Birmingham, Alabama. Clouds have returned, and will stick around for the weekend.

After sunshine for several hours during the day Friday, clouds have returned to the skies across central Alabama, and everything I am looking at suggests they will stay with us through the weekend. The clouds are being caused by a dusturbance in the upper atmosphere over northwest Arkansas. It will slide southeastward over the weekend and serve as the main player in our weather. That means clouds will be our constant companions. Area radars are also indicating some rain showers falling from the clouds, and I would keep an umbrella handy Saturday and Sunday. I am not expecting any heavy or persistent rain, but at least a few showers are quite likely. The clouds will prevent us from getting too chilly at night, but will also prevent much rise in temperatures during the days with highs both Saturday and Sunday in the low to middle 50’s. There is a chance the clouds could even hang around through Monday, though I do think Tuesday will bring brighter skies and higher temperatures.
